Strategy on the ACT is only a fraction of the battle that every student must fight to get their top score.

In the 14+ years that I’ve been coaching test prep to high school students, I’ve learned a couple of very important truths about your student and their test prep/college entrance process:

1) In order to succeed on the test, your student needs to learn how to THRIVE in life at large.
They need to address any areas where they are thinking like victims, being yanked around by whether or not they get good scores on their tests, whether or not they get into the right college…basically, whether or not everything works out great.
Instead, your student needs to adopt a Conqueror’s Mindset, where they see themselves the way God sees them: an awesome world-changer, a precious son or daughter who has been designed as a masterpiece, a blessing to the world around them.

ABOUT ME, MY QUALIFICATIONS
I am a husband to a clearly beautiful wife; a father to three beautiful girls; an owner of a lightning bolt of a dog (Cooper), a soft rabbit (Theo), a super loud-purring but silent-meowing cat (Dolly), five hens, and five faithful egg-laying ducks (Snowdrop and Lollipop).
I have served in church leadership many times.
I have taught Freshman English.
I have published two books with many more coming.
I run a podcast helping men be better men.
I have been tutoring and teaching the ACT and SAT for 14 years, helping dozens of students significantly, and sometimes drastically, increase their ACT and SAT scores.
I scored a 1340 on the SAT in high school with no training other than a book.
I accidentally scored a 1550 when I was interviewing for a job at a tutoring center. I told them I couldn’t tutor SAT math, and I ended up getting an 800 on the math and a 750 on the reading…thereby proving myself wrong 🙂
In high school I graduated with a 4.0+ GPA
I passed five AP tests: Lit, Calc, European History, US History, and Govt/Econ

I graduated cum laude from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

I have never been very good at math. I struggled through pre calculus, barely keeping my head up. With Matt Hallock’s help, I was able to pass the class! I don’t know that I could have without his help.

I am a high-school senior and I took the SAT in may. After receiving my scores I wanted to gain at least an extra 100 points for the next SAT.
